Sign-in is from 10:15-10:30, and the competition will begin at 10:30. We will begin with a fun event for the Pre-K and K students, where they will be asked to provide only the _first letter_ of their word. They will NOT be eliminated for giving an incorrect answer. After the entire alphabet has been gone through, we will proceed with the competition for 1st - 5th graders, which will be conducted as follows:
The 1st - 5th grade Spelling Bee participants will not be divided in school grades, or age groups, instead all participants in one group will take turns spelling words from their corresponding word list.
For example, Julia, a first grader would be asked to spell "God, "a word from her first grade list, while her brother, Adam, a fifth grader, would be asked to spell "salvation," a word from his fifth grade list. If a student spells a word incorrectly they will be asked to take their seat.
Following the 1st-5th graders, the Middle School students, grades 6-8 will compete in the same fashion.
Everyone will receive a certificate for participation. The top winners in BOTH the Elementary and Middle School competitions will be awarded trophies.
**Word lists and contest rules will be emailed to all participants on October 10, giving everyone one month to prepare for the event.*
*When you register your child(ren), please type in their grade level in the same place that you typed their name. * For example: Grace St.Pierre - Grade 6. This is how we will know which list to use for your child during the competition. We will provide them with a name tag stating their name and grade level.
ALSO: Please register children's names that will be participating in the Bee, ONLY. No need to register younger siblings who will attending but not competing. -Thank you.
