Nathan Aaron Witherell

Homeschooled (K-12). Age 26. Nathan graduated from homeschooling, earned his A.A. degree at PHCC, where he was a Student Ambassador as a dual enrollment student. He continued his education at USF, and earned a B.S. degree in Business Management. He married his high school sweetheart, Crystal, just one week after graduating from USF, in 2010. He was recruited by Target Corp. as an Assistant Store Manager, and worked for about a year in that role. Currently, both Nathan and Crystal successfully work for Mattress Firm, Inc. where he is a District Manager, and she is an Area Manager. They recently moved back to Florida after living in Indianapolis for a year and a half as the result of a promotion. Nathan and Crystal actively serve in opportunities organized by Mattress Firm, as outreaches to the community, as well as re-settling in their home church. They have two puppies, Jasmine and Oakley. They live in Gibsonton.





Andrew James Witherell

Homeschooled (K-12). Age 28. Andrew was dual enrolled at PHCC, earned an A.A. degree , and then took a gap-year to apprentice with a missionary in Nicaragua and Costa Rica. While in Nicaragua, he met Katherine, who was working with another mission organization, teaching English to children. Katherine, who was also homeschooled her whole life, and her family lived in Virginia, so they had a long-distance relationship for almost two years before getting married in 2008. Andrew continued his education at USF and earned a B.A. in Finance, and subsequently earned his Certified Financial Planner credentials. He currently works for Modera Wealth Management in Citrus County, serves as a Deacon and the Administrator of Christian Education at Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church, serves in two international ministries, and has served on the board of the Hernando County Republican Executive Committee. Andrew and Katherine have two beautiful children, Esther Renae, who is currently three years old, and Andrew “Drew” Carson, who is eighteen months old. Katherine stays very busy, not only raising their children, but also serving as the pianist on staff at Faith E.P. Church, singing and leading in the choir, teaching piano lessons, and doing many other ministries duties.


Jacob Stephen Witherell

Homeschooled (K-12). Age 22. Jacob also dual enrolled at PHCC in high school, and served as a Student Ambassador at the Spring Hill Campus. He served in HC Youth Court for three years, and was one of the first “partners” in the HCYC “law firm.” In 2012, while at PHCC, Jacob earned a place on the All-American Community College Academic Team, which was quite an honor. He earned his A.A. degree, and is currently in his last year of the R.N. (Registered Nurse) program at PHSC. He is working as a PCT (Patient Care Technician) at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, while going to school and also working at Publix part-time. In Nov, 2014, he married his bride, Katie, who graduated from Nature Coast Technical H.S., is also in her last year of the R.N. program, having graduated from the L.P.N. program in 2014. Katie also works part-time at Publix, as well as a PCT at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa. They are active in local ministry through a home-based church and its outreach, in their “spare” time. They have a poodle named Nala, and Chihuahua named, Coco. They currently live in Brooksville, but desire to begin mission work over seas when they complete their medical training.


Benjamin Thomas Witherell

  Homeschooled (K-12).  Age 24.   Benjamin had a unique opportunity to begin his career when he was in 9th grade.  He joined the Hernando County Sheriff’s Explorer Post, and gained valuable knowledge and training to become a Law Enforcement Officer, and advancing in rank through the years, eventually obtaining the rank of Explorer Lieutenant (second in command), in addition he received multiple scholarships due to his nearly 3,000 community service hours with the Sheriff's Office.

Benjamin also served in Hernando County Youth Court for three years, as Juror, Clerk, and Bailiff (in his Explorer Class B Uniform) . He also had the opportunity to serve as an Intern in the State Attorney’s Office.  Following his graduation from homeschool, Lieutenant Colonel Royce Decker (now retired) recognized Benjamin’s passion, potential, and dedication, and made it possible for him to attend the Corrections Academy at PHCC, sponsored by the Sheriff's Office. Benjamin passed the academy 3rd in his class where he obtained his Florida Correctional Officer Certification.  He worked as a Detention Deputy at the Hernando County Jail for almost (3) years. During his time in corrections Benjamin obtained his Dual Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer by putting himself through the Corrections to Law Enforcement Crossover Academy so that he could transfer to the Patrol Division.  

He is following his dream and was assigned to the Patrol Division for a couple of years; he was recently transferred to the Traffic Unit under the Special Operations Division as a DUI investigator.  Benjamin is happily married to his high school sweetheart, Kaitlyn, who was also homeschooled all of her life until she attended Trinity College and earned her B.A. degree in Christian Counseling.  She is currently enrolled in a Masters program at Liberty College online.  They are both active in ministry at Spring Hill Baptist Church, serving as leaders in the AWANA children's program, as well a ministry for teenagers, called Vida Nueva of Tampa Bay, in which they are active leaders.  Ben will be continuing his education at PHSC to obtain his Associates in Science degree in criminal justice.







Augusta Salzman

Augusta Salzman was home schooled K-12 and graduated with her GED in 2001. Prior to graduation, she participated in youth mission trips around the U.S. and to Belize, played guitar, trained as a classical vocalist, took fine art lessons, participated in equestrian youth activities, was a member of an outdoor adventure Girl Scout troop, and dual-enrolled as a college student at Pasco-Hernando State College. She transferred to University of South Florida with 77 credits. She completed Bachelor in Arts and Masters in Business Administration degrees in 2005 and 2008, respectively, on full scholarships and work vouchers. While in college, she worked various jobs and internships; most notably, she spent the summer of 2007 working, traveling, and hiking in South Africa via a scholarship sending students to intern with the U.S Department of Commerce International Trade Commission. In South Africa she was introduced to Salsa dancing! She's been working for Social Security Administration since 2008, and enjoys traveling, hiking, Latin-dancing, and mud-runs. Her advice to students home schooling: study a second language, participate in some form of sport and art outside of home school groups, and research potential career paths and interview professionals in the field before starting college. A favorite quote: "What we are today comes from our thoughts of yesterday, and our present thoughts build our life of tomorrow".


Sarah Sunshine Salzman 

Sarah Sunshine Salzman was home-schooled K-12 and graduated from Home Circle, class of 2001. She sang with the worship band at church for several years, assisted the children's choir, was a youth leader going on many youth mission trips to locations in Florida, Alabama, Maryland and Pennsylvania. She worked in her dad's computer shop doing office work and deliveries. She was also employed in nanny services for many families in Brooksville. Sarah became interested in the simple life and moved to a Plain Community in Tennessee where she has worked in gardening, weaving, childcare, housekeeping, teaching in the community school, assisting homeschooling mothers, and production of herbal products. She is currently engaged to be married.



(Steven) Solomon & Jodi (Woolums) Salzman

Steven Solomon Salzman, was home schooled K-12, and began apprenticing as a computer technician in his dad's computer shop at the age of 12. He was dual-enrolled at PHCC his last 2 years of high school, and graduated from Home Circle in 1999. He has an AA from PHCC and has many Microsoft certifications. He married his high-school sweetheart, Jodi Woolums in 2001. Jodi was home- schooled her junior and senior years. Jodi and Solomon met at a year book meeting. and she also is a Home Circle alumni of 1999. From 2005 to 2015 Solomon worked for Cooseman's Worldwide, Inc., an international specialty produce shipping company, working from home out of the Tampa regional office as Chief Information Officer, and traveling on business for them to San Francisco, Cleveland, and The Virgin Islands. He is currently employed in West Palm Beach, FL, for Crossmatch, A Bio-metric Security company. Solomon & Jodi have two daughters, Kattaryna, (2004) and Liliana (2006). While in Hernando County, they raised, goats, llamas, and Savannah cats . Together as a family they enjoy roller blade-ing, racquetball, finding & cooking new recipes & medieval re-enacting
